LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l15UmitLVxw YELLOWJACKETS---trailer released for the Showtime all-female survival/revenge series. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj9KamJ72JU STARFLEET ACADEMY---Alex Kurtzman confirmed he is developing a Paramount+ tv series which is, “built around the Starfleet Academy, which will be aimed at a younger audience.” He did not disclose if it is a live-action or animated series. Also Kurtzman is developing the spy series STAR TREK: SECTION 31, and he added, “I think we’re just getting started. There’s just so much more to be had...I want to get much weirder with the franchise...pushing the boundaries much further than I think most people would want. I think we might get there. Marvel has actually proven that you can. But you have to build a certain foundation in order to get there and we’re still building our foundation.” 1883---Sam Elliott, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw will star in the Paramount+ prequel to YELLOWSTONE. The plot involves guide Shea Brennan (Elliott) leading James Dutton (McGraw) and his wife, Margaret (Hill) as they journey from Texas to Montana. DOOGIE KAMEALOHA, M.D.---photo released of Peyton Elizabeth Lee starring in the Disney+ female reboot of DOOGIE HOWSER, M.D. SHIBUMI---Warner Bros movie underway based on the assassin novel. Chad Stahelski is the producer and might be the director. MARVEL STUDIOS---James Gunn commented on Martin Scorsese's criticism of Marvel Studios superhero movies while promoting his movie, THE IRISHMAN, “I just think it seems awful cynical that he would keep coming out against Marvel — and then that is the only thing that would get him press for his movie. He’s creating his movie in the shadow of the Marvel films, and so he uses that to get attention for something he wasn’t getting as much attention as he wanted for it.” STAR WARS: THE BAD BATCH---Disney+ renewed the series for Season 2. PHYSICAL---Apple TV= renewed the series for Season 2. TUCA & BERTIE---Adult Swim renewed the series for Season 3. TRIVIA---in the HBO miniseries THE PACIFIC, Academy Award-winner Rami Malek played Private/Corporal Merriell "Snafu" Shelton. After World War II ended, Shelton returned to his native Louisiana where he became an air conditioning repairman and raised a family. His house later became the home of Derrick Todd Lee, "The Baton Rouge Serial Killer" who killed at least seven women. After being sentenced to death, Lee died of a heart attack. Rebootrams image, that's all. Review of the script (I couldn't readily locate the script): http://legacy.aintitcool.com/node/22789 Concept art: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Trek:_The_First_Adventure I remember all that stuff--that's a long time ago. IIRC, wasn't that idea of the main things that lead to Bennett's ultimate banishment from the ST "family"? I recalled this history immediately as well. It did seem like Paramount did not treat Harve Bennett that well after he had helped give them successful Trek films. He wanted to make a Starfleet Academy film, and it made a lot of sense in many ways. It would have enabled them to have a younger, less expensive cast for a whole series of films. But Roddenberry, great Turd, and the Mount, crushed it; https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0071790/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm "Following Star Trek V Bennett had wanted to produce and direct a Star Trek movie prequel, entitled 'Starfleet Academy'. This was to chronicle the early adventures of Kirk, Spock and McCoy (a project since very successfully undertaken by J.J. Abrams) using a fresh (and thus relatively inexpensive) cast. Once the idea leaked out, it was vociferously opposed by Gene Roddenberry and on the convention circuit by members of the supporting cast. Though he was offered $1.5 million to do Star Trek VI, Bennett decided to call it a day and left the franchise." | | | | | | | Posted: | Aug 5, 2021-12:04 PM | | | By: | fmfan1(Member) | At least Kurtzman has upped the profanity level in the Star Trek franchise.......FINALLY! He is bold. He is a visionary. Don't you get it? Now, enjoy the history of cussing in Star Trek: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqn0WhG53uA (Wow, that's weird. The YouTube link embedded itself without me doing anything special....) | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Posted: | Aug 5, 2021-12:19 PM | | | By: | Warlok(Member) | At least Kurtzman has upped the profanity level in the Star Trek franchise.......FINALLY! Same here. EDIT: I am so grateful for being able to purchase the Ron Jones box. | | | | | | | Posted: | Aug 5, 2021-3:09 PM | | | By: | Octoberman(Member) | Berman is a swear word to me and mine. Same here. EDIT: I am so grateful for being able to purchase the Ron Jones box. That set was a superb embarrassment of riches. I wish that man nothing but success and good health for the rest of his days. And the same for all the people that made that set possible. | | | | | | | | | | | | | Posted: | Aug 6, 2021-6:02 PM | | | By: | Adm Naismith(Member) | Nuts to him -- he's just taking Harve Benett's idea and re-making it in his J.J. The Powers That Be wanted a full-length movie with the entire TOS cast, not this hybrid concept of Bennett's. Bennett's idea made lots of sense in many ways, but re-casting was always going to be a roadblock and bridging TOS & TNG history strikes me as the smarter move. Besides, the crew did not all go to the Academy at the same time, and Spock served on the Enterprise before the remaining officers. Kurtzman's show probably would not deal with Kirk, et al, but a general YA Star Trek doesn't sound all that compelling. But you have 'Pandora' if it sounds interesting to you. | | | | | | | | | | | | Non-Film Score Discussion:STAR TREK, YELLOWSTONE, THE PACIFIC | | First Post |
