Outlander: Blood of My Blood Finale - Behind the Scenes with Henry & Julia's Stars (2025)

Get ready for a thrilling twist in the tale of 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood'! The stars, Jeremy Irvine and Hermione Corfield, who portray Henry and Julia, are here to share their experience of bringing to life the happier moments in the Season 1 finale. But here's where it gets controversial...

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston, Claire's time-traveling parents, finally find a glimmer of hope amidst their struggles. After enduring weeks of separation, they not only reunite but also devise a plan to leave the year 1715 behind forever.

SPOILER ALERT: Outlander: Blood of My Blood Episode 10, 'Something Borrowed', is now streaming on Starz, so proceed with caution!

If you've watched the Season 1 finale, you'll know it ends on a cliffhanger, leaving us with more questions than answers. Will Henry, Julia, and their baby, William, successfully touch the iconic Stones at Craigh na Dun? Will Henry travel alone, or will they all be stuck in a new time together? We'll have to wait for Season 2 to uncover these mysteries.

What we do know is that Episode 10 gave us some of the most heartwarming and desperately needed scenes featuring the Beauchamp clan.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood offers a unique take on Claire's tragic childhood. In author Diana Gabaldon's version, Claire's parents tragically died in a car crash, leaving her in the care of her eccentric uncle. However, Blood of My Blood imagines a different fate for Henry and Julia, sending them back in time to the era when Jamie's parents, Brian and Ellen, fell in love. Henry becomes the bladier for the Grant Clan, while Julia endures domestic service and even seduces Lord Lovat to protect her baby, William.

In Episode 8, Julia and Henry reconnect, and in Episode 9, they plan their escape. The Season 1 finale sees them finally executing their plan, with Julia staging her 'abduction' to ensure their safe passage to Craigh na dun. Along the way, the family takes a moment to rest by a fire, and it's here that Henry gets to hold his son for the first time - a tender and much-needed moment of joy.

Jeremy Irvine, when asked about this scene, said, 'I had no memory of filming that. I watched it and thought, 'Oh, I'm so glad that's in there.' We needed to show they had a moment, given the high stakes.'

Hermione Corfield added, 'I keep seeing fan comments saying they want to see Brian and Ellen together. So, I think this is the first time you see them as a proper unit on their own, through the stones.'

Irvine teased, 'There will be more of that to come. But, yeah, thank goodness because the heartache has been extreme for them.'

And it's not just the past that they have to contend with; they also have their future daughter, little Claire, waiting for them in the 1920s. Episode 10 features flashbacks to their idyllic post-World War I life, showcasing how adorable Claire was as a child.

Irvine shared his love for working with kids, saying, 'It's real for them. You tell them to play make-believe, and they react naturally. The script goes out the window, and you just play off their improvisations.'

Corfield agreed, adding, 'It's nice to have that flexibility. You're listening to the child and reacting to them, rather than being tied to the script. It gives you an excuse to deviate and make it your own.'

Even the intense moments in the Season 1 finale had their fair share of fun behind the scenes. Take, for instance, the moment Henry faces off against Lovat's enforcer, Balloch, played by Chick Allan.

Irvine described Allan as 'the biggest, hairiest, cuddly teddy bear you've ever met. An absolute sweetheart!'

Corfield agreed, 'He's so lovely and gentle. Nothing like Balloch at all.'

Irvine joked, 'The idea that I, as Jeremy, could take him out is laughable. He could crush me with one hand!'

But in the world of Outlander, Henry emerges victorious.
