Namibia's Road Fund Administration: N$752 Million for Local Roads in 2026 (2025)

Namibia's Road Fund Administration (RFA) has allocated a substantial N$752 million for local authorities' road maintenance in the 2026/2027 fiscal year, as revealed by Ferdinand Molale, the manager of corporate services at RFA. This commitment underscores the RFA's dedication to ensuring the safety and maintenance of urban roads through partnerships with municipalities. The announcement was made during a stakeholder engagement event in Tsumeb, where the progress and impact of road upgrades and rehabilitation were showcased. The Namutoni road rehabilitation project, spanning from Farmhouse Deli to the intersection of Tsumeb and Tsintsabis roads, has been completed and is now in use. Despite challenges posed by weather conditions, the project utilized 95% of the allocated budget, with a total cost of N$9.7 million, surpassing the initial contract amount of N$23 million. The Tsumeb Municipality town engineer, Manuel Pedro, highlighted the successful completion and ongoing use of the road. Additionally, the Natis road rehabilitation is expected to be completed by April 2026, at a cost of N$14 million. However, the approaching rainy season may pose challenges to construction progress. Frans Enkali, the acting chief executive of Tsumeb Municipality, emphasized that the road rehabilitation and maintenance efforts are aimed at serving the people, not merely for display. This initiative aligns with the RFA's mandate to prioritize the quality of urban roads in Namibia, ensuring safe and well-maintained transportation networks for the community.
